INFO 2018 will be held in a country with a history of conflict. Thankfully, in recent years this has been replaced with a “Peace Process” that promotes discussion and engagement to promote reconciliation on the island of Ireland. This process is on-going, much has been learned from it, and there has been considerable international interest in the lessons learned.
The business of an Ombudsman Service is to resolve disputes and combining our experience as a Country and as an Ombudsman Service, together with the feedback received from previous INFO Conferences, we have developed an exciting and informative programme to make INFO 2018 a participative and beneficial event to explore and provide insights into what causes disputes and how best to resolve them.
Topics will include behavioural insights including behavioural economics and how they are relevant to financial disputes, dealing with bias and recognising and challenging unconscious bias.
The Conference will examine the various forms of alternative dispute resolution and will use case studies, role play and practical application to illustrate the benefits and challenges of mediation, conciliation and adjudication in resolving financial disputes.
Other topics will include the role of modern technology in resolving disputes, motivating and retaining staff, collaborating with Stakeholders, communicating our messages and maintaining the independence of an Ombudsman Scheme.
